Kathryn Simile

Registered Midwife and Team Leader

Meet Kathryn, her Midwife and Team Leader.

Kathryn can best be described as hardworking and loyal.

Specialising in antenatal and postnatal care, Kathryn has a particular interest in postnatal care and breastfeeding. She’s passionate about supporting women in the postnatal period, known as the fourth trimester. A time of great physical and emotional change as babies adjust to being outside the womb and women adjust to life with a newborn.

Kathryn studied at the University of South Australia and has since worked at the Lyell McEwin Hospital for 13 years as a rotating midwife in the antenatal clinic, labour ward, birth centre and special care nursery as well as performing home visitation.

She also spent two years as a Midwifery Group Practice midwife where she provided continuity of care to women from 12 weeks gestation to 6 weeks postnatal.

In January 2020, Kathryn became an endorsed midwife, enabling her to provide Medicare rebate-able services, including prescribing PBS approved medications for mothers and babies and requesting ultrasound scans and pathology tests that may be required during pregnancy and early parenting.

Kathryn is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) specialising in the clinical management of breastfeeding.

An accreditation which is considered the gold standard when it comes to lactation education and clinical management of breastfeeding. When not at her, Kathryn enjoys exercising, reading and travelling.
