Dr Lisa Bichard-Cheema

Obstetric Physician and Endocrinologist

Meet Lisa, her Obstetric Physician and Endocrinologist.

Lisa is a dedicated and compassionate physician with a special interest in women’s health, endocrinology and the management of medical conditions before, during and after pregnancy. With her warm, thoughtful and thorough approach, Lisa is passionate about ensuring women feel informed, reassured and supported through every stage of their healthcare journey.

Lisa graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2014 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She went on to complete specialist training in Endocrinology, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2023, before undertaking further specialised training in Obstetric Medicine. In 2025, she was awarded the Certificate of Obstetric Medicine through the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ).

Having worked across several of South Australia’s major public hospitals, including Flinders Medical Centre, Lyell McEwin Hospital and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Lisa brings extensive experience in managing both endocrine disorders and complex medical conditions during pregnancy.

Lisa’s clinical interests include diabetes, thyroid disorders, hormonal conditions, hypertension, pre-eclampsia and other medical complications of pregnancy. She provides specialised care for women planning a pregnancy, those managing pre-existing medical conditions, women who develop complications during pregnancy, and those requiring ongoing care and counselling following birth.

Lisa strongly believes in the importance of collaborative, holistic healthcare. She enjoys working closely with obstetricians, GPs, midwives and allied health professionals to provide individualised care that considers the whole woman, not just her medical condition.

As the youngest of three sisters and a mother to three beautiful daughters, Lisa’s passion for women’s health extends well beyond her professional life. Surrounded by strong, supportive women, she understands the importance of connection, reassurance and compassionate care, particularly during pregnancy and motherhood. She considers it a privilege to support women and their families through what can be both an exciting and challenging time in their lives.

When she’s not at her, Lisa loves spending time outdoors with her husband, three daughters and their dog. A beach lover and keen runner, she enjoys visiting family on the Eyre Peninsula whenever she can. She also has a passion for baking and decorating her home with treasures collected near and far.
