Alice Welby

Registered Midwife

Meet Alice, her Registered Midwife.

Alice can best be described as kind, approachable and a good listener.

Having worked as a midwife for six years, Alice has developed a deep interest and aptitude for antenatal education. She loves sitting down with women and their families, talking through all aspects of labour, birth and beyond.

Alice is a vocal advocate for women, not only does she listen, but she also honours their choices during pregnancy and birth. She draws satisfaction from educating women and their families, in order to help them achieve their best possible pregnancy and birth experience. Alice acknowledges each and every woman she meets as an individual with unique life experiences and needs. She always seeks to honour the individual and tailor her care accordingly.

Prior to joining her, Alice spent five years in a South Australian public hospital where she worked across a broad spectrum of midwifery practice including antenatal, labour and birth, assessment, special care nursery, postnatal and home visitation. She currently retains a part time position at the hospital, ensuring her clinical skills and knowledge across all areas of midwifery stay up to date.

In addition to her midwifery qualification from Flinders University, Alice retains a graduate certificate in grief, loss and trauma counselling and has recently completed study that has seen her become an endorsed midwife, enabling her to provide Medicare rebate-able services, including prescribing PBS approved medications for mothers and babies and requesting ultrasound scans and pathology tests that may be required during pregnancy and early parenting. She also retains a degree in journalism—but that’s another story altogether!

When not at her, Alice loves nothing more than travelling the world (when the world is open)! She also enjoys getting her hands dirty in the garden, trying new exciting foods and relaxing with her feet up in front of a good crime drama.
